Company Secretary Different From a Chartered Accountant

A Chartered Accountant (CA) has nothing in common with a Company Secretary (CS) though for some inane reason there seems to be a prevalent general perception that the professions are related. Chartered Accountants work extensively in finance and business sectors whereas a company secretary is almost always the ‘connect’ that bridges the functional gap between the management, board of directors and employees.

The Company secretary course in India is conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. The entire program is divided into three stages, Foundation, Executive and Professional programs. A qualified CS generally acts as a legal advisor to senior personnel in an organization. In public companies CS professionals look after legal issues related to corporate investments, loans and any other public issue. Chartered Accounts though are more powerful in the sense that they are authorized to conduct audits whereas a company secretary plays a more advisory role.

A company secretary basically is qualified to perform multiple roles including corporate governance, secretarial services, legal advisor, financial management and human resource management.

The minimum eligibility criteria for enrolling for both Company Secretary-ship and Chartered accountant course, i.e. the ‘Foundation Program’ are a 10 + 2 certificate. Graduates and post graduates in any field interested in enrolling for the company secretary courses are exempted from going through the foundation stage and are given direct entry into either the ‘Intermediate Program’ or the ‘Final Professional Program’.

Back To The 1980’s

Designers today are drawing inspiration from the trendy 1980’s when clothes and accessories were inspired by music, creativity and a strong sense of rustic fashion. Those were the days when young girls spent an entire week planning their Sunday wardrobe. Quiet unlike the ‘ready-to-wear’ anything fashion of today.

The eighties were not just about shoulder pads, they were about splashes of bright colors, bold strokes, bizarre patterns and making your own fashion designing statement. When else could you have worn a mini skirt with leg warmers and an oversize jumper! Or parachute pants with finger less gloves and got away with it.

Over sized tops with bold patterns, tights and danglers were so eighties, fun and out of this world. Today’s designers are taking their cue from the era gone by and are trying to recreate that energy, that was so integral to bold dressing trends in those days.

Trends from the eighties making a comeback in 2013

Miniskirts are back with a bang!

Miniskirts, hot pants and daisy dukes are a beautiful woman’s birthright. What better way to highlight those sexy legs!

Time to sport those over sized tops

Wear a trendy over sized top with a pair of tights and high heeled pumps. Even better, make a statement with knee-high boots. Wear a jumper with bright and glittering patterns. Bold patterns and neon colors are back.

Shoulder pads are in again

Power dressing and enhancing your look with shoulder pads is one trend that dominated the eighties and is all set to influence the modern corporate woman.

Metal accessories are back!

Belts, earrings, bracelets, brooches and you name it! They are back and are being sold in a variety of sizes and designs to match gorgeous and colorful outfits being worn by the bold and the beautiful today.
